I thought I had my forever home until one day my dad called HHGDR and asked for them to take me.  He told them he worked for the U.S. government and was going overseas and could not take me. HHGDR suggested that perhaps I could go to a foster home so when dad came home I could be reunited with my family. HHGDR asked all their adopters and several families were interested and contacted my dad. He chose one close to home, a contract was drawn up, and one day I was dropped off to my foster family.  Unfortunately dad had not been 100% honest with all and it quickly caught up with me.

After 5 months in the foster home my foster family was no longer able to keep me so they brought me to HHGDR. My dad was contacted yet made no contact with the Rescue, so after a couple of days the Rescue emailed my dad. He replied he would be home on the 20th of September. The 20th came and went and my dad still had not contacted the Rescue. The Rescue again emailed my dad on September 26--he replied he would pick me up by the 15th of October. The Rescue is not able to board dogs. I was taking up space of a homeless dog and they again reminded dad that I could not stay here. My dad did not have a contract with the Rescue and because of this, the Rescue was unable to provide even basic medical care for me if needed.

He was again emailed and he agreed to pick me up by October 4th. He never came for me or contacted the Rescue, so HHGDR was forced to do something they never thought they would have to do. I was taken to the Brown County Animal Shelter, with my favorite toy, where again my dad was contacted, he said he would come that day or the next morning to get me, again he did not come for me nor did he contact the shelter. On October 8th I was placed up for adoption as an abandoned dog and HHGDR was there waiting for me!! I was so happy to be back at the Rescue.

After being at the rescue for several years and no one even being interested in adopting me I asked Grandma and Grandpa if I could just live with them and they be my forever home! My wish was granted!

Please can you spare a few dollars to help the Rescue continue to help other Danes like me it would be greatly  appreciated.
Thanks, Guinness
